Learn to use a Sewing Machine

Learn to use a sewing machine - make an envelope cushion

Workshop hosted by Emie Dine
During this class you will learn all the basics of using a sewing machine. You will create a beautiful, simple, envelope cushion cover to take away with you (I will also provide the cushion pad!). They have no tricky fastenings so you can easily make them again at home with a fabric of your choice. This class is a great way to learn to use a sewing machine and make something lovely for your home.

When: Wednesday 19th or 26th April 7:30-9:30pm
Cost: £36 including all materials
You will learn-
- How to thread a sewing machine
- How to recognise the different parts of a sewing machine
- How to use the tools required for sewing
- A basic understanding of fabric
- how to draft your own cushion cover
- Laying, pinning and cutting out a basic pattern
- how to sew a hem

I will provide all materials and tools required. I have a small number of sewing machines available to use. However, if you would like to bring your own sewing machine (with the instruction book, if you can find it) and sewing kit please do, you will be able to work more quickly.

I will have a limited supply of suitable fabric options, again, if you would like to bring your own, please bring the following - 1 metres of 60” wide (woven, not stretchy) upholstery fabric and matching thread.

Please contact emiedine@gmail.com or via facebook for bank details to pay to secure your place or to discuss the class in more details.
