This is a beginner’s dressmaking class so no experience of dressmaking is required but it would be beneficial to have experience of using a sewing machine before or to attend the Learn to use a sewing machine class prior to this course.

You will need to bring the following items to the class –
• If you have your own sewing machine, it would be preferable to bring it along to the class (with the instruction manual, if you can find it!) I do have a small number of sewing machines that can be used.
• If you have a basic sewing kit, it would be great to bring that along too (I can provide a list, don’t worry if you don’t have everything, I’m happy to share my equipment)
• Woven fabric such as cotton or linen, pre-washed at 30֯ and ironed (if you need some advice, please do contact me, I will also bring along some fabrics for you to purchase, if required) Below are the fabric requirements for a kimono dress, you will need less fabric if you decide to make a top-
For 45” wide fabric you will need 4.3 metres
For 60” wide fabric you will need 2.7 metres
You will need to add 70cm if you would like to make a long belt out of fabric too.
